Our designer Marcia shares that this is a silhouette that you can use to cover up the lower body and is an especially good choice for pear shapes: “The A-line dress cinches at the waist, creating a slimmer waist. It can make even petite ladies look taller with its overall slimming effect."

Straight dresses are fitted on the body. They emphasize every curve from the neckline through the waist, all the way down. The skirts of these types of dresses very often have a slit for freedom of movement. Recommendation from the designer: "The narrow silhouette accentuates your curves and is particularly suitable for women with curvy or hourglass shapes."

Mermaid dresses are fitted at the top. They flare out at the knees to create a dramatic hourglass shape. This silhouette is more about enhancing your curves and creating a dramatic look. A voluminous bottom can balance broad shoulders. Often these dresses are worn with shape wear underneath. Before choosing a mermaid dress, you should keep in mind that this silhouette restricts movements to a certain extent.
